Projector Mapping Temporary Art Installation

The Cube

This week we showcased a technique known as projector mapping. A technique that has become increasingly popular in the last few years. As technologies have become more affordable and computing processing power is on the rise programs like Garagecube’s Modul8 offer  more affordable alternative to pricey media server solution.

A standard cuboid was created in a not so standard size. Measuring three meters cubed and flown from 2 front of house motorised bars in the main auditorium. The cube was painted with up to eight layers of motion graphics created in after effects and Cinema 4d all mapped into place with Modul8 . The over all projected resolution was 1600 x 1200 running DVI from the NVDIA GeForce 8800 GT direct to the Barco NH12 12000 Lumens Projector.
